Tawney Kuhn | Graphic Designer
My personal style is playful, yet professional. I portrayed that through my logo by using rounded shapes and lettering as well as a youthful teal color, while keeping the design clean.

Potted Plants
These were created as a 3D bulletin board set for teachers. Pieces come flat and are assembled by the customer into the 3D plants shown. The idea was to bring nature indoors, and who doesn’t like a plant that can’t die? I also helped create assembly instruction videos for this product as well as other 3D products.
Happy Birthday Award
A take on a regular flat student award, but made it 3D! Something exciting that a student could display on their desk for their birthday or just to hold. Only a couple folds required and the birthday cake pops forward.

What Would You Do?

Note: I did not illustrate this book. I only worked on the cover and interior layout.
This book was designed as a guide for kids on how to handle all types of situations. The slanted design of the type on the intro pages adds playfulness and symbolizes the chaos of all the different situations in the book. The rest of the layout was kept clean to offset that.

Trip Planet
This was a logo I submitted to an online competition for a GPS app logo. Taking symbolic imagery from the word “trip” and the word “planet” and morphing them into one led to creating this sleek logo.

These posters were used in various inspirational poster sets. They were to be type-driven, while still maintaining an eye-catching, colorful, friendly aesthetic.

Teacher Talk Tuesday
These were created as a weekly social post for teachers. They were meant to spark engagement about specific topics, such as at-home learning, celebrating holidays, and teaching styles. The clean typography and monochromatic palette was designed to easily grab attention when scrolling through social media.
Cool Daddy-O's Ice Cream and Grill
This is the official logo for my father's 50's diner inspired restaurant. Red, black and white were the colors chosen for the color scheme to resemble typical diner colors. Blue was also added as an accent to incorporate the red, white and blue together for a "good ol' American feel." I worked closely with my father to give him the perfect logo he had envisioned on paper, creating multiple versions using various colors.
I put together his business cards along with composing the light banners pictured here. Cool Daddy-O's Ice Cream and Grill opened in the summer of 2015.
Stance Co.
I created this logo for a friend who was starting his own business. He wanted it to have an auto racing feel. I incorporated the checkered flag as well as the electric blue to give it a bright, modern look.
Wall-E
This poster for Disney and Pixar's Wall-E is a teaser poster meant to evoke the emotion of isolation. I communicated that by using a large amount of white space to single out the image of Wall-E. This poster also conveys isolation by engaging audience interaction through eye contact, making it feel like Wall-E and the viewer are the only two people around.
Ice Age: The Meltdown
Also a teaser poster, this design for Ice Age: The Meltdown was intended to communicate the joy and happy-go-lucky nature of Sid the sloth. Staying with the blue color palette adds to the icy feel of the film, while keeping the blues vibrant clearly communicates that the poster is for a children's movie.
Monsters Inc.
This movie poster character series is for Disney and Pixar's "Monsters, Inc." The idea for this poster series came from a scene in the movie where Sulley, the big, furry blue monster was always winning "Scarer of the Month." I took three of the main characters, made them into their own "Scarer of the Month," and placed them into a bulletin board setting. It appears as if someone has drawn on the photos of the monsters, engaging audience connection.
Save Water, Protect California
This is a logo for the "Save Water, Protect California" Campaign. While applying for an internship, one of the requirements was to come up with a logo for this campaign. I used the imagery combination of a water droplet and a lock to emphasize the idea of keeping water and California safe. Also, the negative space shape of the lock is enveloping the word "save" and "protect," putting further meaning to the campaign. My color choice reflects water and earth.
The Adventures of Boybot: Boybot Smells an Adventure!
This 5-panel storyboard started from simple 2 inch thumbnail sketches and was then completely inked and colored in Adobe Illustrator. In this adventure of Boybot, he dreams of one day having a nose like all the other robots. He decides to voyage outdoors where something shiny catches his attention. He moves closer to see what it is and THUNK! Out comes a magnet that attaches right to his metal face where a nose belongs. Boybot now has a nose just like he dreamed of.
This illustration was intended for younger audiences and the vibrant colors and adorable robot character clearly portray that.
3DELUXE: Corporate Fluidity
The process of this poster project began with building an improvisational grid structure based off of architecture by a chosen architect or group of architects. I took the implied straight lines and curved lines from the buildings to create the line grids. After the grids were formed, I combined sections of the grid and filled them in with blocks of color. The next and final step was adding type and imagery.
Keeping contrast within the type and color scheme were my main goals for these posters because of the fact that the architect group I chose used curvilinear as well as straight edges. The title that I chose demonstrates contrast because corporate style is usually strict and straight edged and fluidity speaks for itself, being fluid and free-flowing.
